Some book titles make you pause before you even open the cover—Everything is Tuberculosis is one of them. But John Green has never been one to shy away from the big, messy truths of life. In his latest novel, he blends humor, heartbreak, and humanity into a story that lingers long after the last page.
At its core, Everything is Tuberculosis isn’t just about illness—it’s about the way we navigate identity, relationships, and the unpredictable nature of our own bodies. Through Green’s trademark wit and emotional honesty, readers are invited into a world where laughter and grief exist side-by-side, and where even the heaviest moments carry glimmers of hope
This book reminded me why I always look forward to John Green’s work. He has a gift for writing dialogue that feels alive, for creating characters that make you want to call them up for coffee, and for holding space for both joy and sorrow in the same sentence.
For me, the standout element was balance: tender, heart-squeezing moments followed by sharp, clever humor that makes the heaviness more bearable. It’s the kind of story that makes you want to talk about it as soon as you finish—and maybe press it into someone else’s hands.
This should be required reading.
“We are all terminal, but not all of us are paying attention”
And one more:
“The body keeps its own strange calendar—one you never agreed to follow.
5 Stars
If you’ve ever faced the uncertainty of your own health—or supported someone through theirs—this story will feel achingly familiar. It’s as much about connection and resilience as it is about illness, and Green’s voice makes even the hardest truths feel a little lighter.
