Colorado Hidden Gems and Colorado Rockies Secrets!

The Colorado Rockies … Fun Trivia and Best Kept Secrets!

Baseball season in Colorado isn’t just about sunshine, hot dogs, and cheering from the stands—it’s about celebrating one of the most beautiful ballparks in the country and the team that calls it home: the Colorado Rockies.

We put together a quick trivia video to test your Rockies knowledge—play along and see how many you can get right before scrolling down for even more fun facts!

1. Mile High Advantage

Coors Field sits at 5,200 feet above sea level—making it the highest-elevation ballpark in Major League Baseball. That thin air? It means balls can travel farther, which is why you see so many home runs flying out of the park.

2. The Purple Row

Ever wonder why there’s one row of purple seats stretching around the upper deck? That row marks exactly one mile above sea level—a perfect photo spot and a fun way to say you’ve literally been a mile high at a ballgame.

3. A Garden Inside the Park

Beyond the outfield is Coors Field’s very own rocky mountain landscape, complete with real trees, a waterfall, and fountains. It’s a little slice of Colorado nature right inside the ballpark.

4. Record-Breaking Start

The Rockies made it to the postseason in just their third year as a franchise (1995). At the time, no other MLB expansion team had done it that quickly.

5. Sky-High Homers

The longest home run ever hit at Coors Field was 504 feet by Giancarlo Stanton in 2016. Safe to say, the thin air helped—but the crowd went wild.

6. The Food is a Hit Too (Colorado Rockies secrets)

From green chile burgers to Rocky Mountain oysters (yep, really), Coors Field is often ranked as one of the best ballparks for food in the league. (Vegetarian? Watch our video to found out Jessica’s fav Coors Field find!)

7. Rockies Purple Has Meaning

The team’s signature purple color is a nod to “America the Beautiful”—specifically the lyric “for purple mountain majesties.” Pretty perfect for Colorado.
