Getting ready to sell your home? Don’t Make these 5 Common Home Selling Mistakes. Here’s the truth: buyers notice everything. And a few overlooked details could seriously hurt your chances of getting the offer you want—or getting one at all.
In this quick video, I’m breaking down the 5 things homeowners should never leave in their home when selling, based on real-world experience right here in Northern Colorado.
These might seem small, but trust me—they matter. Don’t Make these 5 Common Home Selling Mistakes
Family photos and personal items make it harder for buyers to picture themselves in the home. You want them imagining their story here—not yours.
This one’s about safety. Always store medications securely or take them with you during showings. You never know who’s walking through your home.
Jewelry, passports, checkbooks—anything that’s hard to replace should be locked away or removed entirely. Don’t take chances.
Even if your pets are sweet as can be, not every buyer is a pet person. Litter boxes, food bowls, crates—they’re distracting and can create odors or a sense of clutter.
That plugin air freshener you love? It might be overwhelming to buyers. And strong food, smoke, or pet odors? Definitely a no. Aim for clean, neutral, and fresh.
These are all part of what I help my clients with before listing—because the little things can make a big difference in how your home shows, sells, and performs on the market.
If you’re thinking about selling in Northern Colorado, I’d love to help you prepare the right way. Let’s make sure your home shines for every showing—and stands out from the start.
